This project conducted site research of the cacti area in Wellington Botanic Gardens, sourcing visual ephemera design for a surface pattern design outcome. The patterns are executed through screen-print and dye calibration. Connecting with my Chinese Diaspora, this collection remedies textile design within the practice of contextual research and drawing by evoking memories of going to weekend markets and seeing sellers offering small, makeshift pot plants.
VISUALIASATION
The chosen setting for the prints is surrounded by hospitality and warmth. The patterns follow the market indoors, where meals are served, and drinks are hot.
